Welcome to my page

I worked as a designer in central London before giving it all up to hit the road spending all my hard earned cash travelling around Russia, China and SE Asia. I met Katarina in China and returned to Sweden with her, started a company and bought a house. To aleviate the stress whilst renovating it i decided on another backpacking adventure from Ecuador to Brazil in early 2003.

After 2 years in Skåne we needed more adventure and to discover Snow, so we moved 100km north of the Arctic Circle to Gällivare, with our 2 kids and original mini. After the birth of number 3 we upped sticks and have now landed in swedens rainiest town - Borås. I am now an Art Director in an Ad agency and my missus has become a student at the university here. Have just bought a large house and of course must renovate it.

  • Hello mate! I hope you are well down there in Borås. You've certainly settled into southern life quickly enough! Well, we're still in Lycksele! I've been doing a bit of praktik here and there, so hopefully one of 'em will pay off with a job! It's beautiful here now. The veggies are planted and we're ready to give the boat a trip out when I finish the job I'm doing next week. I couldn't be any more Swedish at the moment - making furniture for a company that supplies IKEA!!! Take care!

  • Hi wayne and thanks for your friendship and I note you are a very travelled guy, but again settled in sweden, take care, chris

  • THNAKS FOR ACCEPTING ME AS A FRIEND

  • HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY WAYNE, HOPE YOU ARE ALL HAVING A GREAT DAY! JAYNE

  • Hi Wayne. Sounds like the house is coming along well. We will get down to see you one day. Very curious about the mid/south Sweden. I guess the kids are missing the culture and shopping from Gällivare... We are having a small party New Years Eve but pretty quite other than that. Friends coming over in March/April and then usual suspects in the summer. How about you guys? Job going OK? Settling in OK in the area? Send us some news when you have time and have a great Christmas and New Year! Love D & K

  • Hello Wayne nice to meet you overhere , i see you are living in Gallivare , i have been there a lot of times i took several times the bus to Ritsem

  • Cheers for the help! Well, it's minus seven here with light snowfall. In contrast with the picture 'view from my living room'. Christ, you tend to forget just how much snow there is further north from here! Maybe I revert to the original plan, which was the Malmö area to live, giving us Copenhagen for potential work also! The world (well, Sweden at any rate) is our oyster!!!

  • Me again! You might be able to give me a little advice - I was talking to a guy in SFI, who lived in Gällivare for a few years. He reckons there are always jobs up there in the mining industry? In your time up there, did you get to hear if that is the case or not? I take it that (winter excepted!) it was a decent enough place to live? We're of the opinion that if we're going to up sticks again, we'll get the jobs sorted out first, and it's certainly an option...

  • Hello mate! Nice to hear from you. You wouldn't believe the weather here - it's crap at the moment. Hardly any snow and plus two today! It's Christmas in a couple of weeks and I can still see grass on bits of the garden! Snowmobile? I'll be taking my winter tyres off the car if we get any more rain. A week or so ago we were skating on the lake. Now it looks like I could put the boat out on it... The svenska is going well. It would be even better if I could put a few more hours in every day. Three year olds and study - it's just not a good combination, eh? Not that I have any pressing need for the lingo at present. Absolutely no jobs up here. Nish. If it doesn't improve, we may have to look southwards ourselves. I don't want to, but the savings are disappearing fast!!!
