Welcome to my page

Hej! I am a chemical engineer by profession and live in the small but beautiful state of Delaware (the site of New Sweden in 1658!). The Swedish royal family visited our  nice city of Wilmington some years ago where a replica of ship Kalmar Nyckel is located! I visited Stockholm in July 2006 and found it to be a dream city to live in with such beauty, grandeur, and lovely people. I love collecting Swedish postage stamps which are a work of art thesmselves! I love Swedish food (a visit to IKEA store in Baltimore is what I always look forward to stock up on my pickled herring, lingonberries preserve, almond torte, cardmom cookies and pickled beets! These days I am trying to learn Swedish. My goal is to learn enough to be able to read Swedish literature on Stamps, Swedish newspapers and be able to understand SVT programs! I listen to Radio Sweden on my iPod routinely and Andy's Polarbear podcast on Sweden! My most memorable event in 2007 is to do with Carl von Linneaus! Radio Sweden held a photo contest for listeners to submit photos of flowers and plants as part of Linneaus 300th birthday celebrations. I was delighted to learn that my photos won the first prize!  My photos were on the radio Sweden website for several months!

My dream trip to Sweden will be a trip from Stockholm to the Arctic circle on polar express train !!!

I have read all of Henning Mankell's books! and have so far watched 8 of Ingmar Bergman's  movies. I have a collection of a few other Swedish movies. I am reading about Swedish cooking!

Man! I am Sweden obsessed and LOVE it !!! I would love to have Swedish friends who love traveling, food, hot peppers, good music and baking bread and it will be nice if they collect postage stamps and love trains too!

Hej da.

  • hello........

  • Hej Arsh! A blog about my volunteerwork didn't really work. mostly because I was working hard to find something else, the ecovillage wasn't what I expected. You can read about it in my stories (just a little). I hope you have more luck with your excavation-work, sounds interesting! Halsningar, Astrid

  • Hello..

  • Hej & hur mor du Arsh? Reading your page, I realized I was at Ikea and totally forgot the pickled herring which I love. It was a hot day and all I wanted was choklad and coke. I was just talking about Sweden to a friend last night and how I missed the food there. Check out the restaurant I wrote a story on if u ever go there to Gotland. Ja! Salve! Tu

  • I see you plan to visit Visby next year! Good call! :) Hopefully your stay will be closer to the initial plans than for Astrid ;) A warm future welcome to "my" island! // Nick

  • Hej Arsh, It all went a little different than planned. Soon I will post my story, I'll let you know! Regards, Astrid

  • Hej my dear friend! Does that mean you are planing a trip to Visby in 2011???? Haven't been there but would love to visit Gotland. Could that be a possibility to meet in Sweden????? THAT WOULD BE SOOOOOO GREAT!!!! Please, let me know in time!!!! Kramar

  • Arsh, thanks for your friend request. Interesting all what you mention in your profile. Congratulations for your pics. I am sure, that the journey you dream on will become reality for sure. Wish you all the best and regards!!

  • Hej! I get so confused with FB and threads and all that! We had a nice weekend. Saw G's brother - he does a once a year fundraiser. I've got to get going on my taxes. I am working on a humor article and I am going with Vikings. Medieval Swedish something or other! If it is published I'll send a copy. Glad you got the card. it is amazing in the desert. I don't think I could live there though. I wish I had found some gold out there. glad everything is going well. I don't want to go start my work! I am still doing self-studying at home. I'll stop chelating now and see how my mercury level is. I didn't think it would be so hard but I think the outcome will be stupendous. Hope your week goes well.
