Keep the Korv but Pass the Bottle.....

Welcome to my page

Hi there,

We're just a couple of old fogies - one Scottish the other English - growing fonder of Sweden with every passing season. We consider ourselves lucky to have discovered this extraordinary country, its people, wildlife, countryside and culture.

Sure, the language is a bast...; the korv leaves you wondering why the Hell you can't buy a decent sausage; Systemet is limited, monopolistic and overpriced.....but ...we can live with it!

On balance, it's one Hell of a country!  Enjoy it!

  • Hope you have a nice Easter. How is everything? Flooding over here in this part of New England.

  • Hi Iain & Janet...yes, I know most Europeans hear only what comes out of Washington, Wall Street, and Hollywood. There are alot of down-to-earth and nice people over here....they don't make the news hour. I first got the idea of going to Europe when I was 29- I first went to London and really had an exciting time...my father had told me about being in France after WWII (he was a military officer). He told me about how one Frenchman had invited a group of Americans to his home for wine and cheese...it seemed really nice. We have a number of naturalist rallies here in the Spring...I am going to try to get to some.

  • Hi... yes the health care fight is a real fight... "tooth and nail"... the liberals vs conservatives. But the entire political history of the last 100 years in the US has been one story: liberal vs consevative. If you look at the general trend....(the liberals are winning); probably because they have evolved further above the animals that their conservative brethren... they tend to display a more empathy for their fellow human creatures...on the other hand the conservatives do have one winning point-one can only afford so much liberalism and then the economy collapses. In the 60's when we had rampant social programs; our turbulent country was practically bankrupted; this lead to price controls in the early 70s and a run of conservative politics which lasted quite a long while. Since Iain is a lawyer I'll bet he is very knowledgeable about politics and political history.

  • Just thought I'd stop by and leave you my regards. Write when the internet is working reliably...william

  • Hi, Iain & Janet...how are things going? Let me know how you are if you get a chance. We are having record snow...more due tonight.

  • Fulufjället is a great place for hiking and visiting the highest waterfall in Sweden. I am in the process of putting a new website together, this will show a better understanding of the area and what to do. Your always welcome to visit.

  • Hi, Yes the area you were in on the Wautauga is really near me. I often fish the Wautauga. Later on, I will take a picture of my own flies and put them on the site. The are fun to tie and kind of nifty. Talk to you later. william

  • Hi, I read Ian likes birding...it takes alot of patience for that...the birds flitting around. We have some nice finches and other small birds on the mountain tops here, and there are alot of birders in our region. For some reason I have always been more interested in fish...why?

  • Me again. A serious mistake in mathematics in late latter. 1100/5=220 and nothing else.
