last visit to Sweden

Welcome to my page

The past 6 years I have spend 5 holiday's in Sweden. Of course I have not seen everything, but I have seen everything that I wanted to see. Some towns and cities i liked very much: Gotenborg, Lund, Arboga, Ahus are a few of them. Other towns were ugly because of the architecture that was new some decennia ago, and most of them are also boring. I won’t mention them here. During my holiday’s I kept a diary that you can read here, along with some illustrations and photo’s.

  • Hej! How is everything? We are getting ready for a storm in eastern U.S. (and part of the South). Busy studying and filling out job apps.

  • Hi,Nanne...I read you are having bad weather...too bad. Here things were terrible with thunderstorms last week; but now the weather is sunny and not too hot which is great. I am really looking forward to Autumn since the Autumn holiday season over here is my favorite time of year. Hope things are going well for you in Groningen, there are so many wonderful things for you to do there!

  • Hi, tja William hat mich darum gebeten :-). Wie ist es im Dezember in Groningen? Vielleicht fahre ich mal zur Weihnachtszeit rüber? Gibt es dann auch noch Jazz?

  • Well, finally i was able to receive the post. Ok, Ok, let´s resume. So it was an interesting and enrichening experience to meet Hans Dulfer ( and Candy as well) that certainly takes the Jazz to a new modern dimension. It also proves that modernization is not in struggle with quality. I also liked his music because it has such that kind of spirit of freedom and fellowship that i like the jazz to express. I am not exactly a "connoisseur" when it comes to jazz, as i only began to develop a growing interest on it when i first settled in Stockholm. Copenhague, as long as i know, is the Nordic capital of this lovely music that caught me since the beginning. I also belive that Jazz needs and deserves an special mood in order to be fully apreciated. It can only be achieved in certain places and cities. If i enjoyed it in Amsterdam, I think Groningen must be a good place for jazz as well, with its charming and relaxed athmosphere. My favorite Swedish jazz man by far, although he is more the classic way, is Bobo Stenson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNfGVAPqXrg

  • Hi Nanne ! Hope this short not, finds you well, and in the best of spirits. I received two posts, earlier this evening, from Tommy Sollén, the Site's "Community Driver/Administrator, expressing dissatisfaction with the Content & recent photographic submissions, of individuals in The Swedish Royal Household. I posted him a measured, response, requesting further clarification etc, but I see, said post has been mysteriously "deleted/removed", from his Profile. On the basis that we were never one to linger in situations.areas, where our presence was deemed to be "persona non grata", I will regrettably, have to remove said Profile, from the Site. A pity, for we have thoroughly enjoyed our liaisons with, both yourself, Peter Rijs, Alberto Oliver, David Zeigerman, to name but a few, in addition, to the many, equally notable & invaluable Members of the facility, however, as is the case, with most phenomena, nowadays, it proves to be, but a transitory experience, and People "move on", regardless. So in conclusion, I would again, thank you, for your friendship, and wish you and your fellow contributors on here, the very best of good fortune & health. JIM.

  • Hi, Nanne...hiking is what you may know as "trekking" or to the British "fell-walking". We do it on trails cut out of the mountain sides. It is pretty good for strengthening the legs; I don't like to run, so hiking is good for me. Now that my foot is hurt the only exercise for me for the next 6 weeks will be swimming. But I don't want to over do that and hurt my shoulder. I had a friend who tore a ligament in his shoulder from swimming too much. There is a definite down side to over-doing exercise; but it is fun.

  • Hej Nanne. I have been fine. Sorry I get so busy and I don't know where the time goes. Studying for school, which starts in two weeks, and trying to find a new job. I could spend all day just running errands and keeping up the house. Cooking healthy food takes time too! We had a nice weekend in eastern Massachusetts. Salem. Very historic area and a beautiful seaport. I don't know where everyone gets all their money to own such beautiful boats. how is everything going?

  • Hi, my wife has an e-reader; but I like the old fashioned book. I try to buy paperbacks however; because the literature is the same and they are less expensive.
