Welcome to my page

Hi, I'm a student at university of applied sciences in Stralsund and study Leisure and Toursim Management. I'm in my last semester and very interested in scandinavian market. Originally I'm from Rügen, which is a beautiful island in North-East Germany in the Baltic Sea.Looking forward to meet some people here, who share the same love to Scandinavia.

  • Hi, Franzi...actually in english a beer stein is the name of what used to be stoneware beer mugs; but are now any kind of decorative or plain beer mug. The decorative kind that I bought are meant to be collectors items and they are not to meant to actually drink beer from them. The one I have is hand painted with the coat of arms of ancient Germany-the black eagle, and has the motto inscribed on it which you so kindly translated for me. It is really a work of art and something to be very proud of. Miune was ordered over the internet directly from Deutschland, so it is really authentic...I did not want any American fake steins. Talk to you later!

  • Guten abend Franzi...the stein came today; it is beautifully hand-painted and one of a numbered set of 5000 only. Mine is #1603- a real collectors item. There is an inscription in German on it which I am having difficulty translating exactly (despite my language dictionary). I will write it here and hope you can translate it for me: "Einigkeit und Recht u Freiheit". I am so pleased with the beer stein I don't feel the need to replace the cuckoo clock; it was pretty frustrating how it would stop running. I tried to get my wife to agree to an electric run cuckoo style clock; but she was against that. I have had to cancel my trip to Iceland and I am pretty bitter about that-the US airfare from Tennessee to Boston was about 4 times my paid tickets from Boston to Rekjavik ($6000 US dollars total). I am afraid I could not afford the flight to Boston at these crazy US airline rates. I don't see how anyone in this country afford to fly on the US airlines. I guess we will all stay home until the rates go down.

  • Hi, Franzi...my cuckoo clock kept breaking so I have ordered something new from Germany to honor the country my family came from: a colorful beer stein with the German coat of arms on it. You might be interested in knowing that the German coat of arms is the oldest in Europe having come from the reign of Charlemagne who spoke German and came from the west part of Germany. The beer stein doesn't have any moving parts to malfunction, and its pretty authentically Deutsche.
