Staying a few days in Gothenburg? Don't miss the Botanical Gardens. This is a lovely park to stroll around in, have a coffee and pastry and watch the scenery. Relaxation at its best. After a 15 minute ride by trolley from Gothenburg's center city you reach this  tranquil place.

The Botanical Gardens are open all year round. Best time for visit is not surprisinglyg  early spring to autumn. In may/june the Rhododendron valley is the big magnet. A rainy day in July is when I like it best. All the the lovely scents come out, the visitors are few and you have a feeling the garden is all yours.

    Imagination is a wonderful thing. You can have the garden almost to yourself and imagine that it is your own. Just enough rain to bring out the aromas and keep the crowds away, but not so much as to be unpleasant. Wonderful. I also like the pond and meadow in the picture which I think is behind your home. I'm thinking of posting a couple of pictures of my back garden from last spring, for all of us who can't wait for its return. If I can get them uploaded from my computer. I'm not really a dedicated gardener, but I love flowers, so when we moved here I naively dug up about 100 feet along the fence line and 4 feet out from it. Keeping ahead of the weeds and the ants is often a losing battle, but it's beautiful in the spring.

  • We have wild rhododendrons native to the Appalachian mountains all through the countryside where I live. Do you know if rhododendrons are native to Sweden or were they imported from the USA?
