Among the many things I love about Sweden is the sense of freedom, security and absence of judgment I experience there. The people are open, warm, and friendly, though sometimes taken aback by my more Mediterranean passion. I love eating fresh Swedish products and baked goods with aromatic and rich coffee. To me one of the best meals in the world in the herring platter washed down with cold beer served at Backficken in the Royal Swedish Opera house in Stockholm. To anyone who loves opera (and if you don't yet, you don't know what you are missing -- read "Opera 101: A Complete Guide to Learning and Loving Opera"), one of the great experiences anywhere is to go to the Drottningholm theater, a gorgeous 45 minute ferry ride from central Stockholm.
Above all, though, Sweden is about breathing the air of egalitarianism combined with low-key sophistication. A bracing combination!
