I like it!

Late summer evening. The air is a bit chilly. I decide for a quick walk round my block in Ekerö - Stockholm's suburban countryside. Suddenly I feel someone is watching me. Next moment I find myself facing a large Elk. He is less than 10 meters from me. Since these wild animals normally are friendly, I don't get scared. If Robert Redford can communicate with horses, maybe I start with elks. I say "Don't move, I have to get my camera.

Two minutes later I'm back with my Canon. My new friend has not moved. I find myself thinking of stuffed animals in zoological museums before I take my first shot. He turns his head idly while I take one step forward for my next shot. "Click". Now he is looking me straight in the eyes. Encouraged by my own audacity, I take another step forward. In the camera lens I see him coming towards me, slowly. My blood freeze. I take two steps back waiting for his next move. Is this going to be a slow fox trot ... Insted he gives me that bored look, turns around and start trotting back into the meadow

  • Hel Margareta, quit a nice story. Adrenaline must have been storming thru your vane’s at the moment the Elk did some steps forward. Fine picture you made of the Elk.
  • Wow! I'm not sure how I would have reacted, but well done for getting the pic! I loved Gaila Fergusons comment..! Now tell me how to get rid of the image I have in my head of a moose holding a camera and saying 'Say Cheese?'
  • I'm not sure that I would want a 500Kg. dancing partner.
  • Wow so much wildlife right on your doorstep. I didn't realise that elk and deer ventured so close to the city.

There are three kinds of stories:
Travel: these are all about the holidays and travel memories. Recommendations: these could be about the best shopping places in Stockholm or the must see places in the Swedish Lapland. Anything: these can be stories about Swedish midsummer celebrations, food or thoughts in general.
