Last Thursday the Swedish king and Queen visited Groningen, for some reason that I do not know. Well, they visited the University, that is 395 year old this year. But what that had to do with Sweden? Does someone know?

Swedish royals visit Dutch queen

The Lutheran church here is 313 years and was build with the material support of the king of Sweden. But a Swedish king never visited the church here. In all the Swedish royals seldom make an official visit to the Netherlands. The last time was 33 years ago. Beatrix was not even queen then. But I it seems that Beatrix is the godmother of the next Swedish queen and the rumor is that there have been several private visits. Beatrix is not sharing her private life with the people. She is queen from 9 till 5, and then she goes home. The people are not supposed to know what she does in her own time.

The king gets a shirt from the Groningen football-club, current on 6-th position in the league.

Next week (April 30) we will celebrate the biggest party in the Netherlands … Queensday. When we are all one, for a day. Not without reason this takes place the day before Mai 1, a day that is hardly celebrated in the Netherlands. And on Mai 5 we celebrate our Freedom. It is good to realize that freedom is not just there. People died (WW II) for our freedom. What are the most important days in Sweden to celebrate?

Queensday is for us the most important day of the year. The queen is our national symbol, she unites us. Of corse it is not democratic to have a member of one famely, the royal famely, to be head of state. The alternative is a president, most likely an older politician. But be honest; who likes politicians??? So to have a queen is more practical. Our queen works from 9 till 5, then she goes home. She likes her privacy.

Hi Friend.
I have participated in Queens day some years back in Amsterdam-drinking orange drinks, eating orange cakes, wearing an orange crown.the streets it was great,that ordinary people were in the streets selling their own stuff second hand. And in Vondelpark there was concert with the group Queen.
Like you I live in a monarky ( if I could decide we wouldn`t). But our queen works 24 hours a day and will continue till she drops. What is your opinion on the lenght of Dutch Queens workday??
The story was about royal visit in the Groningen, from which I know nothing-but I know that SwedishCrownprincess payed you a visit to open a Linne`exhibition few years back.

Of de opleiding Scandinavische talen aan de universiteit maar ik kan me niet voorstellen dat de koninklijke familie daarvoor hierheen komt.. ook geen idee waarvoor dat was, of weet je er inmiddels meer van?

I have no clue, all I know is that there ae 4 good soccerplayers from Sweden playing in FC Groningen. But that doesn't explain their visit. M
