Sweden is an extraordinary country in terms of major attractions it may offer to everyone who is willing to discover remarkable places – sightseeing musts. You will also be able to discover recreation and entertain yourself by learning more about history and culture of this Scandinavian kingdom - the Land of the Midnight Sun.
Sweden appears to be a land of lakes (over 97,500) and plains, valleys. Its nature is beautiful, so that many scenic sights will make you avoid the urban stress at leisure. I would admit that nature in Lithuania is as beautiful as in Sweden. Lithuania is also regarded as the land of lakes (about 6,000) and plains, with perfect recreation destinations.
Sweden also offers many countryside (landsbygd) facilities, which is a local sightseeing attraction for me:
- countryside residences;
- rural tourism farmsteads and separate rest houses;
- holiday camps;
- guest houses;
- fishing houses or fishermen’s cabins/shacks (they are called “rorbu(er)” (in Norwegian) and can also be found along the Norwegian coast);
- recreational complexes, out-of-town leisure establishments (like mill areas, the Open Air and Heritage museums, nature reserves, sculpture parks, golf courses, water parks, other culture centers).
Rural tourism in Sweden is the one you may also encounter in Lithuania. Therefore you might want to explore the country, centers of recreation (also based outside of the main cities) in either Swedish or Lithuanian style, so to say. In Sweden you’d feel an authentic environment of Swedish lifestyle and authentic style of farmsteads, major locations which reflect Swedish countryside and city life, historic focal points for education and research.
In most regions in Sweden you will be able to enjoy pristine nature, seaside, woods (centuries-old pine trees and fields close by), natural life of deer and elks, delicious meals of fish and wild meat, mushroom and berry picking, as well as go bathing, fishing (pike, perch, trout, salmon), sailing or canoeing in summer time. It is a better way to get pleasure from active recreation and travel around your major destination during your stay in Sweden, to my mind.
