After our two days in Stockholm we went to Nynäshamn to the ferry harbour near Stockholm. It's very close, it took us only ca. 15 minutes. There you have a quite nice little harbour with the feeling of Skärgarden. It's enjoyable there to wait for the ferry, really!
The ferry took ca. 3 hours to Visby. We arrived at 4 pm and after cheking in in our holiday flat we hurried to catch up something from the famous mediaeval week. The people looked great with their customs. You really get the feeling to be in the mediaeval time. A juggler delivered a real good entertainment- show for the spectators.
We spent on the whole 7 days on Gotland. Our holiday flat was in Vibble (ca. 4 km south-west of Visby) in an area called Munthe II. It was quite nice there.
During our stay on Gotland we used to go to the beach, swimming in the sea, eating a lot of ice-cream :-)..... but of course did also sightseeing.
We visited the southern part of Gotland. In Hablingbo is a very nice Café with delicious self-made cake and nice view into the wild romantic surrounding.
The northern part is very interssting: The biggest grotto on Gotland "Lummelunda" with only 8°C. Nice to cool down on a hot summerday ;-).
The curious rocks "Raukar" along the whole coast, help your imagination to see different things in these formation. I've never seen something like that before. Fantastique the limestone formations!
The island Farö in the north is really rural. Amazing how this island could have been prevented from tourism!
Interssting and adventure like was our hiking tour through the "Torsburgen" in the eastern part of Gotland. Strange landscape: limestone platteau and just rocky with slim trees which don't have enough halt to stay there longer then few years. Everywhere layed small and slim trees on the ground. Almost scarry!
Typical for Gotland are the sheeps (I think there are more sheeps on the island than people) and the old churches. White churches with partly mystic interior.
I think I will travel to Gotland again. But then I will do more bike rides, cause you really can expire more small places if you are on a bike!
