I like it!

In July 2009 I made the trip for myself I have dreamed such a long time from.

I booked a cheap  fly to Stockholm and furtheron the nighttrain to Kiruna. In Kiruna I took the bus to Nikkaluokta, where I started the hiking. The first hours where unusual to walk with the heavy backpack on the stony way, but then it get's more and more easier. The first night I slept in my tent next to Kebnekaise Fjällstation. The next day I started early in the morning and finished the day next to Sälka. The third day I crossed  the Tjäktpass and finished about 3 km in front of Alesjaure. The 4th day I walked to Abiskojaure, where I slept in the cabin and during the 5th day I finished in Abisko.

I had much luck with graet weather, the sun was the most time shining.

It was the first time that I made a trekkingtrip in this way and it was great. It was no problem to travel alone, to find the right way, no danger all the time. This part of the Kungsleden is good for people, which want to try hiking the first time.

Enjoy it ;-)

  • Hi Andrea

The Abisko-Kebnekaise route is wonderful - I'm pleased you enjoyed your trip. I also did the section between Saltoluokta and Kvikkjokk a few years ago, which was marvellous too - it's a beautiful area.

There are three kinds of stories:
Travel: these are all about the holidays and travel memories. Recommendations: these could be about the best shopping places in Stockholm or the must see places in the Swedish Lapland. Anything: these can be stories about Swedish midsummer celebrations, food or thoughts in general.
