I like it!
For anyone who has Greek blood in them or loves authentic Feta(imported), I searched and searched while in Uppsala for Feta and other authentic Greek cooking products. I almost gave up, but finally found a store as I was soon to be leaving Sweden for the States.  There is a small food store, owned by a Greek, that is adjacent to the seasonal Saturday Fruit and Vegetable market in the Northeast part of town.  There is also a school where the market is....a Hogskule type that has Swedish language classes.  Can anyone confirm this square with the fruit and vegetable market and small food store, in Southeast area of market area? It is just north of the Uppsala shopping district(Kungsgatan I think). I missed my family's Greek food while in Sweden and after finding this little food store, I was able to make Pastitso, Mousaka, Saganaki, and authentic Greek salads again...I was so happy.  Well, If anyone knows this little food market, please let me know. Until I get back to Sweden, I would like to send him my regards.  Just say hello from Chicago Nick....I always bought imported Feta and Kalamata Olives!

  • Nick,do you like Haloumi cheese too?
  • I looked at a Google Earth and it might be on the SE corner of Väderkvarnsgatan and Hjalmar Brantingsgatan...maybe this is Vaksala Torg.? There was a small store there - one store East of the corner, that sold candy, snacks, food items, lottery tickets, etc. Possibly he closed or moved if not still there? If anyone lives near there and give us an update, please post. Thanks
  • Are you talking about Vaksala Torg and Silvia Torg? I never saw a Greek store there and I love Feta cheese :)

There are three kinds of stories:
Travel: these are all about the holidays and travel memories. Recommendations: these could be about the best shopping places in Stockholm or the must see places in the Swedish Lapland. Anything: these can be stories about Swedish midsummer celebrations, food or thoughts in general.
