The very first time I met the expression "Swedish girl" was actually in an English book called "A Winter in the Hills" (A funny and moving novel by John Wain set in North Wales, telling of an English philologist who moves to Wales merely to learn their language, and ends up becoming much more involved in the community). I was no more than 14 when I first read it, and as I'm looking at the cover, I must read it several times. ;-) Not only because the main character is a linguist (just like me), and not only because it is rather erotic at some parts. Well, I was still a teenager.
Whatever I remember about "Swedish girls" is that Roger Furnivall (the hero :-P) wants to get his next job at Uppsala University for the solely reason to pick up some of the ultimate blondes, Swedish girls. In his description we get to know that the most beautiful natural blond girls are in Uppsala.
Well, I've been to Uppsala. Although it was a rather short visit: my way up to Sundsvall. (And I was half awake, half asleep.) The only thing I remember the red bricks, and the red asfalt. And if Uppsala, I have to mention another book, a Swedish one, which I enjoyed very much! The Thief by Göran Tunström.
Have fun with the books! Get more acquainted with Sweden through literature. ;-)
