I like it!
I love the thought of going on a long dog sledge tour or a week long walking tour with reindeers over the wide open spaces in Swedish Lapland … But, never done – and, neither my colleagues nor my friends really see me in a really hard core outdoor activity. And I don’t know why…  This coming week end, I will go to my friend’s cottage in the mountains. Today I bought the most necessary – “outdoor underwear” (underställ in Swedish) and three bottles of good Italian whine. The rest regarding equipment my friend Jenny lends me. Jenny thought it was very strange that I didn’t have any of this equipment in my possession, “…- but you live in Sweden”!!? Well, I live in Stockholm …  To be continued…

  • Asa, I, too, am a born and bred urban dweller. I'm a first generation Swedish-American (Father: Skane Mother : Halland). I was born in Chicago, a famous Swedish-American city, and now live in San Francisco, another famous Swedish-American city. Sidewalks, buses, traffic and lots of people, that's normal. Nature looks fantastic from inside of the car. I have gone mushroom hunting in the woods and it was fun but I was glad to be back in my real "natural habitat".

  • I look forward to the story of your experiences in the mountains. The proper thermal undergarments are indeed necessary. I learned that when my husband and I went curling for a few winters years ago. It makes the difference between suffering through the cold, and enjoying the experience.

  • Now I really have a good reason why my story isn’t published – my private computer where I have most of my images and an almost finished story about Härjedalen, just crashed… and.. back up … well … some … not everything :-( so … I will send the computer to the computer doctor, so we’ll see…
