On our last trip to Sweden (for my grandmother's 90th birthday) My sister and I flew into Stockholm and rented a car to reach our destination in Southern Sweden (Ulricehamn) where my grandmother lived. As we left the airport and got onto the Highway I started the video camera that we brought along and started filming our road trip... Since my sister decided to drive, After about 15-20 minutes, I made notice through the camera as I was filming, that we were traveling in the wrong direction! We wanted to head South and she was driving towards Northern Sweden!
That was the first of many goof ups on that trip and basically set the tone for the rest of the vacation :)
Fun Memory notes:
Using a tramway for a left turn lane in Goteborg (thank goodness no tram was coming!)
Driving the wrong way on a one way road (where were the swedish police?)
Getting lost leaving Stromstad seeing the same landmarks at least twice as we were traveling in circles apparently! hint: never use a red barn as a landmark! hahaha :)
Getting lost and stopping at a gas station to find that you cannot just pick up a pay telephone and use it, you need a calling card (the gas station attendant let us use his thank goodness)
My sister leaving her purse in the shuttle bus between the car rental place and the airport.
This may be only funny to my sister and me but I look forward to our next trip this coming April-May!
