5thumbs up

I like it!

We were woken around 6.45 this morning by my pensioner neighbour who was driving his tractor up and down to clear some snow. The fact that a retired neighbour has a tractor in his garden is odd enough, but to get out of bed that early on a sunday morning, why?

Couldn't he wait till at least after 8? The same problem arises every day in the shops in Gällivare. Shop owners up here are not the most flexible, open 10 -17 closed for lunch (of course lunchtime is the only time i get to go to the shops!). I do not buy many items locally due to the fact they are always closed!!!

The only shops that seem to open at lunchtime are the big supermarkets. Guess who goes shopping between 12 and 1....the pensioners! Why oh why  do people that have all day long to go shopping do it why i have my only chance! Shopping at ICA at lunchtime can take 45 mins of my hour. Another problem in Gällivare is that the ICA doubles as the post office - the same checkout (despite the fact that the post office is the building next door you must collect parcels from ICA). So i wait and wait just to buy my pint of milk.

Oh my god......i am sounding like my mum.....aargh!

  • Pensioners want to feel part of the action. They need that stimulation. That's why they go shopping at 6 pm when the stores close at seven and they're jostling with the busy young-uns. The same rationale applies to why they book the apartment building laundry on Saturdays - because that's when all the other residents come down hoping for a free spot. Just embrace them (not literally!!) and keep in mind they might not have much longer on this big blue ball.
  • Just this minute driven past an old man in a mobility scooter. Snow storm, icy roads and that poor devil driving down the middle of the main street. He looked bloody cold and not happy i can tell you
  • Ha!ha! Grumpy old man syndrome. We all get it as we get older ;D Why in the banks and post office do they have less staff on at lunchtime???? And don't get me started on pushchairs and mobility scooters!!!!!!
  • My mum likes to moan about everything....!

There are three kinds of stories:
Travel: these are all about the holidays and travel memories. Recommendations: these could be about the best shopping places in Stockholm or the must see places in the Swedish Lapland. Anything: these can be stories about Swedish midsummer celebrations, food or thoughts in general.
