I like it!
I do. Despite most people, when summer comes I start to freak out. It’s not that I really “hate” summer, that’s a bit extreme, but I certainly hate summer in Milan: too hot and sticky I cannot breathe. Also most of the things related to summer holidays make me shiver (well, so to say): long queues on the motorways, packed trains, packed planes, delays, 1sq metre per head on the beaches. Pure horror to me. Which anyway makes me quite a freak.Whereas I had the “summer” of my life in Sweden and Denmark: with good weather that’s very close to an ideal summer place to me. You can feel the sun really warming you, while if I lay on my terrace I feel like being cooked for the “roast dinner” of the day. Ugh. So that’s another reason why my favourite places to go are all in the North. And maybe also because I love contrasts or the unexpected, such as: Nordic country > beautiful summers, cold places > warm atmospheres…

  • Hi Marcalla,
you're describing the reason why my husband and I planned our next trip to the North ;-)
We have been in Italy by Motorbike last year and I figured out, that
    1. August is not the right time to travel to Italy ;-) and
    2. visit Italy in the hottest month of the year is not a lot of fun.

I mean we had a great time there but riding your bike while you wear your protection-cloth during 30°C and more ... nothing to add ,-)

That's the reason why I thought by myself to plan the next bike-trip this summer to the North - to Sweden.

Looking forward to this new, exciting country!

    CU,
    Andrea
  • Ciao Marcella! I know what Milano is like in the summer. It's like a boiling kettle with no air. I guess it has to do with the geografic surroundings. Milano i placed in the bottom of a kettle and there is no wind, no air, and on the top, there is the smog like a "corpechio". So, you are right, Milano is not at it's best in the summer. But, me, a swede, are not spoiled with sun and warm summers. Our summer is verry short, and the rest o the year there is dark and cold. Maybe you would change your mind if you where living here for a couple of years ;-) I guess we are living in the opposits and maybe there are a place in the world where there are a balance.
  • I totaly agree with you!;o)
